Mityana and Joy Modern School

Today was our first day outside of the village.  We took a two hour trip to a village called Mityana.  George's uncle runs it and is trying desperately to mimic what George has done here in Bugabo.  There is a school there like here and it is called Joy Modern.  There are about 180 students there.  Here are the students at school.
And here are a couple of the students we passed on the way to see the water source.  They carried these Jerry cans about a quarter of a mile up a hill form the water source.

And unfortunately here is the water source.  It is at the bottom of the hill and it is shared with the livestock.  Everyday until today I have seen poverty but I have seen the face of God in these people.  They smile despite their desperate circumstances.  They praise God and worship in a way that shakes me to my core and humbles me.  And here in this village today I saw a reality that broke my heart.  I'm having a hard time writing this.

I know that poverty like this can't be solved on a two week mission trip.  But there was a time when I would have doubted that God would allow me to be sent to another country to tell people about Him, to see them come to life for Him and to see people find salvation in His name.  I never would have admitted that it would have been possible that at the end of one week here we would be witness to almost 20 salvations, over 300 Bibles in the hands of those who have never had them, and be planning a mass Baptism for over 100 people.  But this is exactly what has happened!
So, I know that God will provide. I trust Him with everything in me.  I have witnessed Him work in a way that still leaves me speechless.  Even today as we got back from that heart breaking trip we were an hour late to our own bible study.  What were the people here doing?  Singing praise music to God!!  We walked in and up walked 14 new believers!!  So God is worthy of all praise and He can do all things.
I have to believe that there was a reason for this whole trip, for the visit today, and for Patrick and I diligently reporting back to you everything that we see and experience.
This village is a Christ believing village too.  They faithfully preach Christ, they haven't given up on God.  They educate their kids despite seeing poverty all around.  They plant crops in anticipation and hope of rain.  They are trying to build a church and get clean water to drink.  The cost of building a church $6,000, the cost of a borehole (a well) $8,000.  So, for the cost of a small car people here could have clean water and a church to worship in and that would change their lives in a way that I didn't understand before I came here and frankly in  way that am having a hard time conveying to you.
Please start praying for this village and their needs.  Patrick and I have found that prayer is answered.  We have come to expect big things from our God and he hasn't disappointed us.
